The aim of this course is to continue the students’ introduction to the historical development of American literature. The course focuses on the periods of 20th century American Modernism and late-20th and early-21st century Postmodernism with closer look on American drama and several notable subgenres of American fiction. Historically contextualizing lectures are complemented with seminars focused on discussing both the content and form of the assigned readings. The students will learn how to contextualize American literary traditions and interpret significant works of American literature.
