As this is the first course within the degree that systematically deals with teaching English, its aims are twofold. First, it seeks to broadly familiarise the students with several selected areas germane to the profession, so that they can (begin to) appreciate the complexity of the language teaching process. Second, it should serve as a platform for initial discussions about both practical and theoretical aspects of teaching English. Especially the former will also be of use for the classroom observations the students will be conducting in parallel (KAJ/7045).
